Implementation/Training

Implementation Options

Jonas is an extremely flexible system which provides our users the option to adapt our software to their specific needs. While this level of configuration is highly valuable to larger companies or more seasoned Jonas users, it can be overwhelming for a new user or smaller company. To address this, Jonas offers two implementation formats to ensure that all new clients get as much from their system as possible.

1. Fully Configured Installation

In a Fully Configured Installation you will start with a blank slate and work with your Jonas trainer to set up the system to meet your specific business objectives. This takes a little more time than the Jonas Express set up (see below), but will provide a deeper understanding of the options available within the system. A Fully Configured Installation is advised for clients that:

  • Need their own chart of accounts and cannot use an industry standard
  • Would like their own job and/or work order numbering schemes
  • Need multiple operating companies
  • Are moving from another integrated system
  • Would like to invest the time to gain a deeper understanding of the options within Jonas

2. Jonas Express

The Jonas Express installation is a simplified pre-configured version of a Fully Configured Installation. The purpose of Jonas Express is to give new users a starting point, from which to jump straight into learning the software. This cuts back on the time and investment required for a custom installation. You are then left with the option to expand and change certain elements at a later point, when the system is better understood. Jonas Express is advised for clients that:

  • Are happy to use an industry standard chart of accounts
  • Are happy to use standard job and work order numbering schemes
  • Want to minimize upfront training time and expense, to get started on the system sooner
  • Are moving from horizontal accountings systems such as QuickBooks or Simply Accounting
  • Want to start with standard functionality and learn the system before exploring additional options in the product

Choice of Implementation

Whether you choose Jonas Express or a Fully Configured Installation you will be using the exact same system. The difference is all in the settings. Either way, you will benefit from the integration, power and flexibility that makes Jonas the software of choice for over 1000 contractors across North America. The question of whether or not to go with Jonas Express really comes down to the chart of accounts. If you are happy using an industry standard then starting with Jonas Express makes most sense. You can always change the configuration of most other elements later. Companies that want their own chart of accounts will need the flexibility offered through a Fully Configured set up.
